LAMBERTSON & SHADE FAMILY CONNECTION:

Wow! This is my 200th Journal Entry at “Behind the Lens”! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate but to mention some people from my family…going way, way back a few generations.

Therefore, today is kind of a continuation of my first entry on this topic, about preserving your family History, namely, the photographic History. You can find my first post by clicking on this link:

My Lambertson Family Link.

I will show in this entry my link to the SHADE family through my LAMBERTSON side of the family. I also want to continue adding a few photographs of family, and this is a way to also preserve these images from my family History. A few of these images are already on the WEB, but in my opinion it is good to have them preserved and shown in many locations as to increase the odds of good photographic preservation.

  • Here are a few Lambertson Family photos ‘preserved’ now, in this journal entry.

LAMBERTSON ROAD

LAMBERTSON ROAD 001

(Photos Source: Not sure… Description: LAMBERTSON ROAD in Pocomoke City, Worcester County, MD, USA. I guess the family has a road. The early Lambertson families were very long time Worcester County residents).

LAMBERTSON Business Ad

(Description: LAMBERTSON’S Livery Feed & Sale Barn, advertisement. Circa 1900. Clear Lake, Iowa. The proprietor was C. M. Lambertson, my Great Uncle [brother to my Great Grandfather, William Monroe Lambertson]). Perhaps I get my “Safe” driving skills from my Great Uncle!

JOSEPH EARL SR

JOSEPH EARL LAMBERTSON SR

(Photo Sources: Unknown. Photo Descriptions: Top Photo – Grand Aunt Emily May Purdy & Grand Uncle Joseph Earl Lambertson, Sr., b. 18 Nov 1892. [My Grandmother's, Bertha Grace [Lambertson] Johnson, brother]. Bottom Photo – Joseph Earl Lambertson, Sr., in his Naval uniform).

I mentioned earlier about my Great Grandfather, William Monroe Lambertson, and this is the point in my Genealogy History where I am related to the SHADE Family: His father was Samuel Lambertson, and his mother was Mary M. SHADE. My Great-Great Grandmother was Mary Shade [(Samuel Lambertson (b. 1828, of Moores Hill, Indiana) & Mary M. Shade (b. 1834, of Portage, Ohio)].

Starting with myself as ‘Descendants Line NINE’, I am listing (below), my SHADE family linkage, back to my ‘Descendants Line One’ Great Grandfather, Hans Adam SHADE (b. unknown, but died in Germany).

So here it goes…I hope the data is accurate, but there is always a chance for the usual genealogy data problems that crop up, and often unavoidable until new data is found.

  1. DESCENDANTS OF: SHADE, HANS ADAM (d. in Germany…Wife is Unknown so far).
  2. ANDREAS SHADE (b. about 1725, d., circa 3 Sept 1786, Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania). Andreas was my GREAT-GREAT-GREAT-GREAT-GREAT Grandfather. He was quite a builder. In fact, two of his homes still stand today, and are Historic Homes in America. SP: MARIA ELIZABETHA KRAFFT (b. 17 April 1737, d. circa 1769) See Photos of his homes below this list. My Great Grandfather Andreas Shade was also a Veteran of the American Revolutionary War: The American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), also known as the American War of Independence. See the Document below regarding his Patriotic Service during the war.
  3. CHRISTIAN S. SHADE (b. 19 April 1767, d. 1 Jan 1837), SP: CATHERINE ELIZABETH RIEGEL (b. 20 Sept 1768, d. 26 Nov 1817).
  4. ADAM SHADE (b. 27 Sept 1799, d. 22 Sept 1872), SP: MARY BRENNER (b. 1805, d. 19 July 1855).
  5. MARY M. SHADE (b. ? Feb 1833, d. 1909), SP: SAMUEL LAMBERTSON (b. 22 Dec 1828, d. 1 Jan 1921).
  6. WILLIAM MONROE LAMBERTSON (b. 14 Mar 1864, d. 31 Mar 1948), SP: ADA GRACE GOODMAN (b. 14 June 1870, d. 1 June 1950).
  7. BERTHA G. (LAMBERTSON) JOHNSON (b. 8 Mar 1898, d. 23 June 1981), SP: JOHN ADOLPH CHRISTIAN JOHNSON (JOHANNESON) (b. 3 Aug 1885, d. 3 July 1963).
  8. MERLIN ROY JOHNSON (b. 14 May 1938), SP: CONNIE RAE (YONKEY) JOHNSON (b. 22 Oct 1941).
  9. ME (Nawfal Nur (b. 1965 – on ‘Operation Rolling Thunder’ day).

Photo Description: This is a house built (circa 1760’s, maybe 1770’s) on Andreas Shade’s land. CITATION: “Made from stones found while clearing land for farming. He used this house while he built [a] large log house on [the] same property. From Rt 25 in Gratz take road to Erdman N., 3mi to Fearnot Rd then turn R(east) 2mi to house at #624- or – from Sacto Rt 25 take Fearnot Rd at St. Pauls Church, [and then] turn west (3mi) to #624.” (Source: http://www.bergergirls.com/getperson.php?personID=I005923&tree=Strausstown# )

Photo Description Citation: “Built on land purchased by Andreas in 1753, this is most likely the house Andreas built. It is less than a mile north of the house on Schaefferstown Rd. which was built on land purchased by Andreas in 1767.”

** Note **: It is believed that the original house built on this property was constructed by Andreas…however, in some sources the words, “might have been built by Andreas“, are used.

  • Patriotic Service during the American Revolutionary War, Document:

ANDREAS SHADE PS-PA Am Revolution Service

This document comes from the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) – I believe it is a Family History & Application for DAR Authentication and Membership: The text is a little small, but it reads:

Transcription: “The said Andreas Shade (PS-PA) who resided during the American Revolutionary at Berks Co. PA assisted in establishing American Independence while acting in the capacity of Patriotic Service.”

“My ancestor’s services during the Revolutionary War were as follows: Signed Oath of allegiance on May 25 1778 before Peter Spycker in Berks Co. PA.”

I would have to say that I’m very proud of my ancestors’ contributions to the establishment of early American freedom through much effort and struggle. My Several-Times-Great Grandfather, Levi Lambertson also served in the American Revolutionary War, out of Maryland. There may be more Revolutionary War Veterans in my Family, and finding them is a matter of research.

I would like to SPECIALLY THANK a few people for their hard Genealogy Work and Research on our family History:

First off: My Dad: Merlin Johnson. He has the entire basement (I’m told) filled with family History and he keeps me up-to-date on new developments (maybe a slight exaggeration on “entire basement” – hahahaha!) I want to wish my Dad a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY for 14th May – OK, one day early, but it has to go out with this post. Have a GREAT ONE! Being half a world away on special days, is really, really hard.

Then, there is cousin Bill Lambertson who is a very skilled Genealogist and Guru of Family History.

Forrest Shade always has interesting information about Genealogy!

And, a site that Bill directed me to, the www.bergergirls.com site is FANTASTIC for SHADE FAMILY History!

Good enough for now: That ends my 200th Journal Entry.

PS: I have found that SkyDrive is a good place to backup Photographs. Each Hotmail account gives you 25GB of Storage Space. It is a very good idea to get your important documents and photos off-computer (off-shore) and into another location. SkyDrive is a good way to do this. Use IE 8, with the Uploader Active Tool so you can upload many files at once. The traditional 5-files at a time is a DRAG! I recommend the uploading tool.
